Happy Summer

Hello all! Summer break is almost here.

Many times we let our music practice stop over the summer. It is important to continue to practice, if possible, during the summer months. Just as we loose reading and math skills over the summer our playing ability can deteriorate during these months as well. I know that they don't have school items to practice, but they could continue to play from their books from the previous year, you could go to the music store and pick out a book of Disney favorites or other popular music (just check the difficulty level), or you can find some limited music on the web for free. It's great to have kids get together with each other and play together.

There is also the opportunity of summer camp through the school district. Your student should have brought home information in the last couple of days, or there is more information in the Rec guide that was sent home last week.

Sixth grade parents thank you for letting me help your student move forward with their skills for junior high. I enjoyed getting to know them and hope to see them in the future.

Fifth grade parents. I look forward to working with your children in the sixth grade and hope to see all of them continue in our program.

It's been a great year and I am looking forward to next year!

Happy May!

As the school year winds down there are some pieces of information that you might need and want to know.

First 5th grade parents, you should have received a note from the district asking you to choose what kind of music your child will get next year as a 6th grader. Please make sure that you return these so that we can plan for next year.

All parents, school district instruments will be due to the school or the Lakeway Learning Center by 5/29. Thank you for your cooperation in this. Please make sure that any fees associated with your instrument (percussion fees) have been paid.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be finishing up DSPA's as well as playing through our books and working on new skills. Your student should continue to practice through 5/24.  Band/strings will continue to meet through the end of the school year.

There will be some days that some classes will not meet, due to the fact I have to go out of the building to screen 4th graders in other schools for next year. The dates are as follows:

6th grade band/strings will not meet 5/13-5/15 and 5/20-5/22

I have had a great year teaching your students and look forward to next years adventure!

Thank you for your continuing support.
